Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant, HLTA or Learning Mentor looking for a new and inspiring challenge? Then look no further as we have an exciting opportunity.
As a Learning Mentor you will mainly work with pupils on a one-to-one basis enabling children to access the curriculum. You will support children to develop coping strategies, enhance motivation, raise aspirations and encourage re-engagement with learning. An interest in outdoor learning and forest school is desirable.
We will support you by providing Learning Mentor and Forest School training.
The successful applicant will be skilled in dealing with a range of complex underlying issues that may impact negatively on learning and achievement, such as bereavement, low self-esteem, low aspirations, mental health issues, relationship difficulties, bullying, peer pressure and family issues or concerns.
Candidates will need to demonstrate: the ability to work successfully within the Inclusion Team at Hayes; good communication skills; have the ability to form good relationships with children, their families/carers and a variety of organisations; will have strong skills in negotiating, planning and managing activities; good listening skills; have an understanding of health and social issues that affect children's development; a good knowledge of the school curriculum and the needs of learners; a passion for outdoor learning and forest schools.
